Beacons is what? RED HOT!Beacons is a way of thinking, educating, learning and growing. Through Beacons our goal is to build relationships, culture and community. Beacons is a trusting and supportive environment in which kids are engaged in both planning and leadership. Youth voice, interaction and decision making are keys to     achieving Beacons perfection in a quality program.

At Anwatin Middle School, After School Programming is a joint effort between ALC (Area Learning Center or Academic Support) and Beacons Programming.

ALC’s mission is to offer extra academic support to all youth in after school programming. The goal is to prepare all students for college, career and life. In giving youth the option to choose their own ALC classes, we are expecting the young people to take ownership over their classes as well as the program.

Beacons’ goal is to prepare youth for life beyond the classroom. We focus on the social and emotional aspects of youth development. We encourage youth leadership, youth voice and youth choice within all components of programming.
