Barton Community Education



After School Classes:

Classes are offered after school Monday-Thursday 3:10-5:10 p.m. Barton after school classes incorporate art, STEM, sports, language, leadership and more.  After school instructors consist of community members ,community partners, parents, student teachers, and parents. Registration for each session can be completed online and is available 2-3 weeks before each session begins.  A brochure of class offerings is also sent home with all students via backpacks.  After school busing is available to those students who ride buses to and from school during the day and buses leave Barton at approximately 5:10 p.m.

Middle School Athletics:

Minneapolis Community Education is now coordinating Middle School Athletics within Minneapolis Public Schools.  Co-ed soccer (grades 6-8) as well as boys basketball and girls basketball (grades 7-8) will be offered for the 2018-2019 School year.  There is a $45 fee for each sport and all students must have had a sports physical completed before they can play and physicals are valid for three years. Registration can be completed online or by paper form.  Paper forms are available in the main office and in the Community Ed. office (Room 211B) Coaches wil determine practice times and dates and will communicate this to families.  

Release Day Programming:

Barton Community Education offers programming on several Minneapolis Public Schools release days from 8:00-4:30 for grades K-6.  Students rotate between a variety of activities and go on an off-site field trip each day.  The cost for release days is $35 per day; transportation is not provided to and from Barton.
